Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 Collection

Burberry Prorsum’s spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection was indeed filled with arts and crafts, with crocheting, beading, weaving, braiding, and bits of vaguely tribal applique covering a great many looks. The theme of the collection took subtle cues from the inspiration of a 1940′s military wife, while still retaining a celebratory spring mood, described by creative director Christopher Bailey as “joyous, upbeat, and nostalgic.”
While I’m not an entirely big fan of the wooden beading plastered onto many an ensemble, the label keeps in step with spring’s hankering for ethnic exotica with a great array of prints, and is also aided by a range of chic handbags, clutches, and raffia bobble-hats echoing the exotic core of the collection. What’s also commendable is Burberry’s elevation of the parka to the spotlight that has been traditionally occupied by the trench coat.
