Ulyana Sergeenko Fall/Winter 2011 Lookbook
With her latest fall/winter collection, Moscow based Ulyana Sergeenko gives us babushka sex-kitten realness. See more after the jump.
I have to admit, there’s a strange mixture of styles within Ulyana Sergeenko‘s newest F/W collection that I don’t find entirely appealing, but more than anything, I just loved this lookbook. The surreal, quaint wallpapered backdrop is perfect for the collection, and enhances its vintage sensibility.
While there are a few appealing pieces sprinkled throughout the lineup, mainly the warm grey suit dress with a white fur hem, and the beautifully tailored and pleated green dress, bow-tied at the waist, the collection altogether doesn’t scream “modern” or “sophisticated” to me. Maybe because it’s so hard to make anything of calf length very desirable looking. But while there is an application of vintage glam throughout, the only word I find myself repeating is “grandma”. (Albeit a stylish grandma!) If you ever happen to catch your grandma in a breast-baring sheer sweater, though, please don’t let her escape the rest home.
